Dispatches from leading journalists:
A Troubling Picture of Bureaucrats Who Think They Run U.S. ~ Sharyl Atkinson
In the public impeachment testimony against
President Trump each of the Democrats’ witnesses of the past two weeks appeared to me to be well-intentioned and hard-working, and seemed genuinely to believe they know what’s best. But a picture also emerged of U.S. diplomats who appear to believe they, rather than the U.S. president, have the ultimate authority to determine our foreign policy. And if the president doesn’t go along? He clearly must be wrong — in their view. Or, even worse, he’s a traitor. He’s to be obstructed. Taken down.
Chick-fil-A Put an Obama and Hillary Supporter in Charge ~ Daniel Greenfield
Chick-fil-A’s announcement that it was dumping the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which have come under attack by gay activist groups, caught Christian fans of the fast food chain by surprise. It shouldn’t have if they had been paying attention to CFA’s corporate structure. The donations were coming out of the Chick-fil-A Foundation. The Executive Director is Rodney D. Bullard, a former White House fellow and Assistant US Attorney. He was an Obama donor, and, more recently, had donated to Hillary Clinton’s campaign while at Chick-fil-A.
FISA alterations Could Pose Trouble For FBI ~ Sara Carter
Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s anticipated report will reveal that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Application warrant was tampered with but the significance of that cannot be understated. It means that Horowitz’s discovery will discredit the bureau’s handling of its investigation into President Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia during the 2016 presidential election and it could make any information discovered during the course of seeking approval for the FISA and after ‘fruit of the poisonous tree,” according to numerous sources who spoke to SaraACarter.com.
The Surveillance Century: Who Should Own Your Data? ~ Richard Fernandez
You may object that this and many other forms of security come at the expense of individual privacy, but this has been going on for a long time. Back in 2013, the Washington Post reported that "both the National Security Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are said to have been secretly mining data directly from the servers of at least nine top U.S.-based technology companies... this was all done since 2007 under a highly-classified program dubbed 'PRISM.'" Almost everyone, it seems, both attacker and defender, has been reading the public data.
100,000 Dreamers Have Been Arrested—Murder, Rape ~ Corruption Chronicles
More than 100,000 illegal immigrants who requested a special Obama-era amnesty for adults who came to the U.S. as children have criminal histories, according to an alarming report released this month by the government. Offenses committed by the illegal aliens seeking protection, benefits and rights under the policy known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) include murder, rape, weapon and assault charges. DACA has shielded nearly 800,000 illegal aliens under the age of 31 from deportation and allowed them to obtain work permits and drivers licenses. Obama launched the outrageous measure through executive order in 2012 to help children who came to the U.S. “through no fault of their own.” The Trump administration tried to end DACA in 2017 but open borders groups sued to keep it going and now the Supreme Court is set to decide the matter.
