A major poll in April found the share of parents who said they would definitely not seek the pediatric shots was bigger than the share that planned to get their children vaccinated right away, 27% versus 18%. The Kaiser Family Foundation also found that 38% of parents were in a “wait and see” mode and 11% said they would get their youngest children vaccinated only if required.
And rightly so. You're going to hear constant cheerleading from the medical establishment for vaccinating your little ones, but here are a few, brave dissenting voices.
Vinay Prasad, M.D., MPH, hematologist-oncologist and associate professor in the department of epidemiology and biostatistics at the University of California, San Francisco:
“We do not have evidence that vaccination improves any health outcome for [children], and we certainly don’t have the evidence that it prevents hospitalization serious illness in those kids. People are just proselytizing and exaggerating on TV and there’s not really a dialogue about what’s known or not known."
Dr. David Gortler, pharmacologist, pharmacist, and FDA and health care policy oversight fellow and FDA reform advocate at the Ethics and Public Policy Center think tank in Washington, DC. He was a professor of pharmacology and biotechnology at the Yale University School of Medicine, where he also served as a faculty appointee to the Yale University Bioethics Center. While at Yale, he was recruited by the FDA where he became a medical officer who was later appointed as senior advisor to the FDA commissioner for drug safety, FDA science policy, and FDA regulatory affairs. He says:
"There is no need for a primary series of COVID-19 vaccines for children. The young have a decreased benefit from COVID-19 vaccination but are also at a greater safety risk. Plus, many children have already had COVID and have the benefits of naturally acquired immunity."
Dr. Reni Moon, a pediatrician who is double board certified in pediatric hospital medicine and pediatrics:
Gving COVID-19 vaccines for children is “the most appalling thing I’ve heard in medicine. The lack of regard for safety is highly unethical. I personally put it into the arena of crimes against humanity.”
Dr. Kirk Milhoan, M.D./Ph.D., a pediatric cardiologist and medical director of the non-profit For Hearts and Souls, which helps children with heart defects around the world:
“Let’s be honest. It’s not stopping anything. Omicron is blowing through the vaccinated more so than the unvaccinated. After five months, for children, the vaccine has negative efficacy. It’s going to do more harm than good. What we’re seeing is that with those who are vaccinated they are more likely to get the infection than if they had nothing at all.”
The medical industrial complex is driving hard on this one. Billions of dollars are at stake.
